After not having been home for 2 months, I miss not being equipped with a full kitchen to cook my meals. Oddly, while I’m at home, I continue to resort to my basic dorm cooking methods…like microwaving or using minimal number of pots. Hooray for one-pot recipes, like the one I made on Spoon University, which is also on my blog here.
I don’t know how I ended up at home three hours after my parents bought my plane ticket, but I am so grateful and absolutely delighted to be at home. Even if it means having to fly back to Berkeley on Sunday for finals, because I come back in two days anyways–yay x1000!
I’m currently taking a break from studying to write about this savory oatmeal I put together yesterday morning! I grew up eating oatmeal with milk and brown sugar, so savory oatmeal has never seemed too appetizing to me. However, seeing that there are more and more people eating savory oatmeal, I decided to give it a try! Because I haven’t had the time to develop an amazing recipe for you guys, won’t be putting up a recipe on this post, but maybe in the near future I will!
I used garlic butter to add a bit of creaminess and garlicky flavor without having bits of garlic in my oatmeal, which I personally don’t like.
Then I tossed in a tablespoon of frozen green onions, which released so much great flavor into the oatmeal. At this point, I was actually getting excited for savory oatmeal. Somewhere along the lines, I added a bunch of black pepper and a bit of salt
and other mystery ingredients, made a soft-cooked egg, and heated up a chicken sausage that I didn’t bother getting pictures of. Wups.
And then I made myself a nice, creamy lactose-free(!!!) latte with my dearly missed espresso machine. Definitely a bit rusty on my latte art pouring skills because I haven’t touched the machine for four months.
And then I assembled everything together in a clean, white bowl and stuck a spoon in there because it looked out of place just on the side. Aesthetics. Yes.
And it was delicious. There you go – my Thursday morning in one blog post 🙂
May this be my record time for writing a post: <15 minutes, because I’ve got to get back to studying! See you next time~
